Find out if you are eligible to take part in a clinical trial for a potential new severe asthma treatment.

One of the few treatment options for severe asthma patients whose asthma is uncontrolled despite standard treatment is the addition of oral corticosteroids. However, regular intake of these oral corticosteroids can decrease the quality of life for such patients. The purpose of this research study is to see whether a potential new treatment can reduce the use of oral corticosteroids in patients with severe asthma.

As a participant, you:

• are between 18 and 75 years old

• have asthma that was diagnosed by a doctor at least a year ago

• have been treated with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) plus long-acting beta agonist (LABA) for at least the past 12 months, and have been treated with oral corticosteroids for at least the past 6 months

• have had at least 1 exacerbation (worsening of asthma that requires medical intervention, emergency room visit, an inpatient hospitalization, or a change in medications) in the past year

This trial is 46 weeks long, requiring 15 visits and no overnight stays.

The sponsor of this trial is AstraZeneca and the results will be published.

All study-related medications, including asthma background medications, analysis, hospital visits, and procedures are free. You or your insurance company will be responsible for the costs related to standard of care.
